[FILLED] Anabaptist Interim Ministry Coordinator – job opportunity

POSITION FILLED AS OF JUNE 21. The selected candidate has been hired to start on Sept. 1, 2020. An introduction announcement will be made on PCDA.BC.CA and here shortly before that date. Thank you to all those who applied.

The Pacific Centre for Discipleship Association (PCDA) is seeking to employ a part time Anabaptist Interim Ministry Coordinator.  The PCDA is a not-for-profit Society and registered charity which has provided oversight to the Menno Simons Centre, an intentional Christian residence for students attending the University of British Columbia and Regent College. After more than 33 years, the Menno Simons Centre, located at 11th and Crown in Vancouver, has been sold.  Prime real estate at the corner of Wesbrook and University Boulevard on the UBC campus has been purchased by the Society, and a building project is underway in partnership with MCC Legacy Trust and BC Housing.  The new project includes a Menno Hall student residence for 75+ students, rental housing, and educational / ministry facilities.  During the “gap years” before the project is complete, the Society desires to continue to minister to students, network with UBC campus ministries and engage in faith and learning opportunities.

The Anabaptist Interim Ministry Coordinator will provide hands-on leadership and support to the Board of the Society during the gap year(s).  Preference will be given to applicants who have attended university and are familiar with the Anabaptist tradition (e.g. Mennonite, Baptist, etc.).

Duties

The Interim Ministry Coordinator will work an average of 10 hours per week as follows:

  • Increasing our social media presence and adding relevant content to our website
  • Working with the Alumni Committee to continue and develop alumni connections
  • Networking with UBC campus ministries, chaplains and academics to assist the Campus Ministry Committee in developing a ministry vision and plan for the future UBC site
  • Assisting the PCDA President and Treasurer with administrative tasks, including those related to the Gerard House on our new site (leased to University Christian Ministries, UCM)
  • Potentially planning and hosting Anabaptist academic lectures once per semester

Expectations

The Interim Ministry Coordinator reports to the Campus Ministry Committee, which is responsible to the Board of Directors of the Pacific Centre for Discipleship Association. Depending on skills and interest, the successful candidate may also work with the Board and the Menno Hall Committee members on the development of Menno Hall’s intentional community and a wider campus faith and learning vision. The Coordinator is expected to periodically report on his or her progress to the Board and the Point Grey Inter-Mennonite Fellowship (PGIMF).
